About Us

Established in 2024 by visionary founder Kevan Perumal, The Intellect Institute emerged in response to a growing need, not just for professional training, but for purpose-driven, value-based education that transcends traditional teaching models.

At the time of its inception, the educational landscape in South Africa, and indeed globally, was saturated with a test-oriented approach that prioritised short-term achievement over long-term growth. The prevailing model often focused on rote learning, with little regard for the broader application of knowledge or its relevance to real-world challenges. There was a critical gap: students were being taught to pass, not to think.

The Intellect Institute was created to change that.

Our founding principle was simple yet powerful: knowledge should ignite consciousness. We believe education must go beyond memorisation, it must cultivate purpose, curiosity, and a sense of responsibility. The goal has never been merely to prepare students for exams, but to prepare them for life. That means shaping individuals who can think critically, solve problems creatively, and apply their skills to improve their communities and society at large.

Kevan Perumal – Founder & Strategic Director

Kevan Perumal is a highly accomplished public sector governance and human capital development specialist with more than 30 years of experience in leadership, organisational development, labour relations and public administration.

He has facilitated leadership, governance and capacity-building programmes across South Africa and several African countries, including Botswana, Namibia, Lesotho, Eswatini and Mozambique. As former Director: Human Resource Development Strategy and Governance at the Department of Public Service and Administration (DPSA), he has contributed significantly to strengthening public sector capability, ethical governance and leadership development, while mentoring public servants and executives across all spheres of government.

Led strategic Human Resource Development and Governance initiatives for the South African Public Service through the DPSA.
Contributed to the transformation, modernisation and professionalisation of public sector institutions across South Africa.
Facilitated leadership and governance development programmes for thousands of public servants through SAMDI, PALAMA and the National School of Government.
Supported governance, institutional strengthening and capacity-building initiatives across multiple African countries, enhancing leadership capability and organisational effectiveness.
